CRITICAL CARE UNIT

Critical Care Unit has 20 beds and is equipped with state of the art equipments. There are 06 cubicles inside the Critical Care Unit to isolate an extremely critical patients requiring extra attention and isolation.

The department has earned a status of ‘PREFERRED TERTIARY REFERRAL’ Centre and is catering patients not only from Kolhapur but from neighbouring districts like Ratnagiri, Sangli, Sindhudurga, Belgaum.

The Technology

The technology in Critical Care Unit consists of advanced ventilators from Siemens, Maquet, Multipara Monitors (Philips), Syringe pumps(Fresenius Kabi) and other advanced life saving gadgets like Defibrillators, Pacemakers etc. Each Bed is supported with all these ultramodern ICU equipments and is simultaneously monitored on Central Monitoring system as well.

The Team

Critical Care Unit is supported with Multidisciplinary Team which consists of 06 Highly skilled, experienced and dedicated Intensivists and fulltime Super-specialists from Cardiology, Nephrology & Neurology branches. The immediate availability of various Specialists & Super-specialists who are present in ICU, catalyses the Clinical decision making process and enables prompt & precise treatment in patients requiring Multidisciplinary treatment approach.

Immediate accessibility to various invasive & non-invasive treatments from multiple medical branches remains the mainstay of our Critical Care Unit and has become the distinctive characteristic of our ICU.

This unit has 2:1 patient to nurse ratio and at least 02 Intensivists along with highly trained Medical Officers are always present in all shifts including night shifts.

Treatments & Diseases Treated

Our Critical Care Unit receives wide array of patients suffering from diseases which are critical in nature. These broadly includes, sepsis, multi-organ failure, snake bites, OP & paraquat poisoning, high risk & complicated surgical patients, Road Traffic Accidents & complications arising of Diabetes.

Academics

Our Institute is the only private Institution from south-west Maharashtra which imparts Post Graduate Training in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM), DNB Medicine,Cardiology & Radioimaging( National Board of Examination, New Delhi), The registrars & residents seeking training at our Institute are actively involved in regular CMEs, Case Discussion, Clinico-Radiological Meetings conducted under the able guidance of experienced consultants & teaching faculties.
